aThe overall distribution of junctional microhomology and average microhomology do not differ between WT and polβ-/- cells. However, the frequency of junctions with 2–3 bp of microhomology and insertions do differ significantly between WT and polβ-/- cells (P = 0.019 and 0.041, respectively, as determined by Fisher's exact test).

bMicrohomologies can include single nt's that are not identical within both the Sμ and Sγ3 sequences, as long as they are preceded or followed by three or more identical nt's. However, the mismatches are not counted in the length.
