Splenocytes and cervical lymph node cells from 6-wk-old aire-deficient NOD mice were pooled and depleted of either CD4+ or CD8+ T cells using complement. Animals received injections of anti-CD4 or -CD8 antibodies to remove residual cells at days 0, 5, 19, and 33. Animals were aged 40 d after transfer, and organs were harvested and analyzed as described in Materials and methods.
